For this project, I had to design two completely different icon sets for a hiking app – both based on the same theme, but each tailored to a specific user group. One set was aimed at young, tech-savvy users, the other at the Silver Ager generation. The visual design – including colors, style, and background – was entirely up to us.

My design process started with a mind map, where I explored visual ideas for the predefined app categories. The goal was to develop suitable visual metaphors for each term and define potential design directions.
Based on these ideas, I created sketches to experiment with different styles and define a visual language tailored to each audience.

This set was all about modern aesthetics. I chose a dark mode, clean and bold icons, and a more symbolic visual language – colorful, minimalistic, and a little more playful.
My design approach:
Dark background with a mountain landscape
Bright, colorful icons
Abstract and simplified design
A sleek, digital look and feel
This version focuses on clarity and friendliness. I wanted the icons to be easy to understand at first glance – simple but with a warm, human touch.
My design approach:
Light mode with a calming nature background
Line art with subtle color accents
Pictorial and intuitive icons
Soft colors and a welcoming atmosphere
